![]() ![]() ![]() In an era when 2K screens are becoming ubiquitous on smartphones, major video sharing sites, such as YouTube and Vimeo, are offering videoswith variable resolutions, from 144p all the way up to 720p and 1080p, even 4K and 8K. Generally, the higher the resolution, the better the video quality is. You can download online music and videos from popular websites, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, and 1000+ other websites. The downloaded videos are saved as the original formats (no transcoding gets involved) on your computer, then you can transfer them to your mobile phones, tablets, or other video playback devices for watching everywhere. This could be useful for web videos.DVDFab Video Downloader is the one-stop platform where you can download online videos from your desktop. One bonus I discovered is that there is a 640x480 AVI format at the bottom of the list which played fine and requires no transcoding. Could be that I don't know what to look for and the footage was a person in a studio with great lighting and a black background. I settled on the HQ setting because I cannot see any improvement in the PRO output. I was expecting more dramatic differences but don't see it. You really have to zoom in and study fine details and contrast to spot any differences. I studied each of the files after transcoding and found that at first glance they all look identical. All of the programs max out my CPU and the cooling fans quickly start spinning up. You do need to lower the contrast on the output. Wondershare was the only program that seems to alter the look of the transcoded file when comparing a frame to the original h.265 file. I tried Wondershare, iFFmpeg and Handbrake and all performed about the same. The original file from the camera was 4.7GB The PRO setting resulted in a 2gb file, the HQ setting resulted in a 826MB file, and the NORMAL setting resulted in a 242MB file. I find that at any of the 3 quality levels, a 2 minute clip takes about 2 minutes to transcode. ![]() I'm not sure why I don't get the poor results others have reported. I have been experimenting with several transcoder programs for my NX1 on a 5K iMac and found that the free Samsung one does just fine. ![]()
